Curated Brew - join us on the journey into speciality coffee

I'm a coffee lover, but not a coffee professional, until now.

My name is Ian, and I'm the founder and managing director of Curated Brew.

Who am I?

My previous job wasn't as a barista, or a roaster.  It was as an IT professional.  Coffee has been a hobby of mine for the last few years, but not my profession.  That means that Curated Brew marks the very beginning of my professional journey into the specialty coffee world.

You might think this leaves me at a bit of a disadvantage- after all, who am I to be recommending coffees, if I've never worked in a cafe, or a roastery, or if my sensory ability needs a bit of refinement! Let me tell you why that's not the case.

The Curated Brew journey

I've thought long and hard about how to make Curated Brew as engaging an experience as possible.  I don't want this endeavour to be "just another coffee subscription".  You can read about our plans for an intelligent coffee subscription using Machine Learning in my previous journal post, but I'd like to lay out how Curated Brew members will have the chance to journey with us in our exploration of the speciality coffee world.

Learning from the best

Every time Curated Brew picks a new roaster, I'll visit them to choose a coffee collaboratively, and have a chat about how they operate, so that I can understand what makes them tick, and so that we can enjoy coming to learn more about coffee together.

As we're working with some of the best roasters in the world, I'll take every opportunity to build real relationships.  I'll learn what brought them into coffee, what get their thoughts on the industry.  I'll also be keen to get their tips on how to get the most out of the coffee they've roasted, and how to improve my sensory skills!

Most importantly, if you become a Curated Brew member, you can join me in the journey to discover more about the people, the process, and the passion that goes into making a great cup of coffee.

Conclusion

I'd love you to join me on this wonderful journey - we're building something really special here, and we hope you're as excited as we are.  You can join us for our very first delivery, featuring Assembly, by signing up here
